About the Organist
Born in 1998, Jan Willem Jonkman began organ lessons at 14 with Wim Verweij at the Elburg music school. He studied from 2017 to 2019 at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, where he was taught by Erwin Wiersinga and Theo Jellema. In 2024, he resumed his conservatory training with Sietze de Vries and Erwin Wiersinga. He also studies harpsichord with Johan Hofmann and previously took piano lessons with Nata Tsvereli. Jan Willem has attended masterclasses with notable organists such as Wolfgang Zerer and Éric Lebrun.
Alongside performing, Jan Willem is a volunteer at the National Organ Museum in Elburg, accompanies choirs, and serves as organist at both the Grote Kerk in Elburg and the Goede Herderkerk in Epe. He also works with Dutch Organ Tours to promote Dutch organs internationally.
