It also means plenty of opportunities to enjoy wonderful Easter brunches at the most beautiful spots in Groningen. We've put together a great list of hotspots for the Easter brunch in Groningen. Whether you want to head into the city for a cosy brunch with friends or family, or prefer to explore the province for a more peaceful experience, there's plenty to choose from. Here is a list of the best hotspots to book an Easter brunch in and around Groningen — from atmospheric small bistros and Easter buffets with live cooking to unique Easter boxes for at home. Is your favourite hotspot not on the list? Check the bottom of this article and submit your favourite Easter brunch spot in Groningen! It's free.

10x Hotspots for the Easter Brunch in the City of Groningen

  • Café Lily (Insider's Tip) – Pim and Marieke run a cosy café close to our beautiful Noorderplantsoen, where they serve the most wonderful dishes paired with matching wines. On Wednesdays there is also a delicious and affordable dish of the day. It has become a beloved spot in the heart of the city, popular with locals. At Café Lily, close to the Noorderplantsoen, you can enjoy a relaxed and informal Easter brunch with fresh produce and a homely atmosphere. In our experience, it is more than worth it! If you'd prefer a bit of a lie-in, there is also the option to book a three-course dinner with a sweet finale from 16:00 onwards.

  • Fernweh (event list in the link) – Restaurant and coffee bar Fernweh organises a series of culinary events for different audiences during the Easter weekend. On Easter Sunday (Sunday 5 April), the highlight is the Grand Easter Brunch. Guests can enjoy an extensive brunch in various time slots, featuring luxury sandwiches, Easter bread and other brunch classics. There is a special menu and a play corner for children, so parents can also relax and enjoy an Easter breakfast. There is also an extra early session at 8:30 — especially for early risers or parents with children who have a different morning routine.

  • FeelGood Groningen – For many Groningers, FeelGood has become an indispensable trendy food spot in recent years. Here you can enjoy the most delicious lunches without any guilt, or simply have whatever is on the menu for a great price! Just a taste of what's available: the Mangoloco Smoothie, Immunizer Shots, the Bali Breakfast, the famous OatCappu, the Rainbow Buddha Bowl. Perfect for a refreshing start to your Easter Day. And that's not all — they also organise unique workshops and detox sessions you can sign up for.
  • DOT Groningen – also known as the former Infoversum, home to Europe's Largest Christmas Ball every year, but also a genuine hotspot for swimming at the Stadsstrand Groningen. The DOT Easter Brunch 2026 is available to book on their location page and takes place on Sunday 5 April. Book in time — DOT is also great fun to visit with children.
  • Werkman – At Werkman, a relatively new hotspot on the Grote Markt, you can enjoy a relaxed brunch board in an industrial yet cosy setting. Of course, a filled egg is not missing from this board. You can accompany it with unlimited mimosas or one springtime beer from Brouwerij 't IJ (PAASIJ).
  • Bar Frans – Bar Frans is a trendy venue for a Bottomless Easter Brunch with a French twist. Keywords: Bubbles, Oysters, Brioche with egg and avocado. On 5 April it's the Easter Edition.
  • Zeste – Zeste is a popular Sunday choice for a healthy and varied Mediterranean brunch, Easter or not — so we've included it in our list anyway, opinionated as we are. On Sunday 5 April you can visit for freshly baked focaccias, homemade dips such as mushroom rillette, nut tapenade and padrón cream cheese, ravioli with sheep's cheese and ceps. And afterwards keep the drinks flowing with, for example, the Basil Smash Cocktail. Hmm… we're already excited!
  • The Market Hotel – Café Willem Albert – It's basically always Easter here, as every Sunday and Monday you can visit for a delightful high tea featuring savoury sandwiches, scones, yoghurts and other treats. This is served inside restaurant Willem Albert — book in advance.
  • Prinsenhof – For those who prefer a luxurious and elegant Easter brunch, visit the Hotel Prinsenhof website. An excellent choice for lovers of fine dining in a historic setting — this monumental former monastery church is well worth a visit. The Brasserie Prinsenhof offers an Easter brunch on both Easter days. At fine dining restaurant Nassau you can enjoy a gastronomic lunch on Easter Sunday.
  • 't Feithhuis – This historic building provides an atmospheric setting for a cosy and delicious Easter brunch. Enjoy an extensive selection of sandwiches, cold cuts and sweet treats in a unique ambiance. The Easter Brunch usually opens for reservations a few weeks in advance. It is also possible to book a three-course Easter dinner. But act fast — it tends to fill up quickly!

  • Graansilo – The Graansilo is a unique spot in the city centre. The former barley, wheat and grain storage facility is now a true hotspot in the city by the water, with a large terrace and well known for its whiskey events and other culinary tastings. On Easter Sunday you can book an Easter brunch here — if you pay a little more, drinks are included. Children pay approximately half price.

  • Het Scandinavisch Dorp – Just outside the city, right on the Paterswoldsemeer, you'll find Het Scandinavisch Dorp. An Easter buffet in an enormous log cabin — what more could you want? Every year the famous Easter buffet is prepared here. It's not only a culinary experience — for kids there is also a fun Easter egg hunt. An ideal destination for families.
  • De Kleine Wereld (Bistro De Landing) – Note: this one fills up fast, so keep an eye on their socials too. The Easter egg hunt is a big hit with the little ones here as well. So if you're looking for a cosy and relaxed Easter experience, this is a top choice. Pssst… it's a great place to visit any time, a truly beautiful campsite in Onnen. Outside of Easter you can also visit the bistro and there is often something fun going on.
  • De Theefabriek in Houwerzijl – For a peaceful and rural Easter brunch, head to De Theefabriek in Houwerzijl. Enjoy a lovely brunch in an idyllic setting, perfect for a relaxing Easter outing — combine it with a visit to the tea museum. And in good weather, enjoy the beautiful garden.
  • Landgoed Nienoord – At the Grand Café Borg Nienoord you can enjoy an Easter brunch every year. But be warned — it books up fast. Did you know you can also hire a motorboat here and enjoy a boat trip on the Leekstermeer? You can even book a picnic basket to take with you.
  • Restaurant Borage – Beautifully located on the Zuidlaardermeer, perhaps a bit of an outlier among these Groningen venues, but it's only 20 minutes from the city. Tim Ringers cooks with local produce, and many edible plants grow in the surrounding area. Who doesn't know the Zuidlaardermeer? And who wouldn't want to enjoy a wonderful dinner with a view of the water? Head chef Tim Ringers and his team welcome guests from Tuesday to Saturday. Lunch by appointment.

3x The Easter Buffet in the Groningen Region (Family-Friendly)

Of course, we can't overlook the Easter buffet! Strolling past all the different dishes can be a real treat. As far as we're concerned, there is only one favourite in this category, and that is Hotel Van der Valk.

Van der Valk Hotel Hoogkerk Groningen has a wonderful Easter buffet, available on both Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

Familiehotel Paterswolde – Treat yourself to an abundance of Easter delights! On both Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, you can enjoy an extensive family Easter brunch at the restaurant of Familiehotel Paterswolde. Be surprised by the generous brunch buffet, which has something for everyone — from savoury to sweet. The brunch includes unlimited dairy, juices, coffee and tea. Perfect for a fun day out with the family. There are also fun activities for children!

Flonk Hotel Groningen Zuid – On Sunday 5 April, at restaurant Meerwold in Flonk Hotel Groningen Zuid, you can enjoy an extensive Easter buffet on Easter Sunday. For children there is a special buffet and fun Easter craft activities.
