It’s the day before the end of hunting season, and not a single deer has been shot... Tensions and emotions rise in the household as an unexpected visitor puts family ties to the test.
In 'The Hunting Season', a young woman is beaten into the hospital by her jealous husband. Her family does their best to support her, but quickly runs up against their own limitations and internal frictions. In the small-town atmosphere of present-day America, she tries to reclaim her independence and autonomy. This leads to unexpected and tragicomic situations where reality and fantasy blur.
And are the good intentions of her sister, mother, and father truly sincere or actually helpful? They cling to American traditions, gender roles, and the past—but does that help her move forward?
'The Hunting Season' is a story about the inability of people to truly see one another and to make real human connection. Can holding on to the values and promises of the American Dream in the Trump era save this family?
