Mayte Veenstra (18) sings in Frisian, but you won’t need a translator to understand her. Melodramatic, sincere, and full of teenage angst, she pulls you into her world. With her band, she delivers a mix of raw guitars, driving beats, and poetic lyrics straight from the heart. Inspired by P.J. Harvey and Björk, the sound is powerful and idiosyncratic.
