Fruit Varieties and the Art of Pruning

On October 18 and 19, everything at our garden will revolve around fruit trees, soft fruit, and the design of garden and yard. During the annual Fruit and Pruning Days, we present a large collection of fruit trees and soft fruits, including many old apple, pear, and plum varieties as well as lesser-known types such as quince, Nashi pear, and medlar. Experienced gardeners will also give live demonstrations on how to prune fruit trees.

Visitors can have their own fruit identified at the stand of the Northern Pomological Association, purchase fruit trees, berry bushes, and ferns from Foltz, or attend a pruning demonstration led by an expert fruit tree pruner (11:00 and 15:00). Each day at 13:30, a guided tour will take place through the woodland garden and fern valley, offering insights into the use of ferns in private gardens. You can also receive advice on traditional garden tools and even try out the best pruning equipment yourself. In addition, various exhibitors will be present with practical, beautiful, and tasty products.

How do you prune a fruit tree?

Few topics cause as much uncertainty among garden owners as pruning fruit trees. That’s why experienced professionals provide two clear demonstrations per day, explaining the do’s and don’ts of pruning. These practical lessons take place in the old orchard next to the farmhouse. Demonstrations start at 11:00 and 15:00. No advance registration required.

Handy tools & autumn treats

Jessica Scholtze from the company Handig Goed will be present with a unique and beautifully designed collection of handy household and garden tools (subject to change).

Wim Kluiver will present his homemade honey, and Maaike Hage (Zoet & Hartig) will surprise visitors with delicious autumn treats.

Opening hours: Both days from 10:00 to 17:00. Free entry.
