On Monday, March 23, studium resort presents𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭 with artist Maurice van Es. An evening dedicated to the strange, colorful, and obsessive world of collecting photography from football magazines from the 1990s.

During studium resort, host Ellis Kat will speak with Van Es about his fascination with football culture and photography. How did hours of scanning evolve into making art books? How did this shift affect his experience of pleasure and play within what started as a hobby? And what happens when a private pastime becomes a shared artistic exploration?

After the conversation, participants will get to work themselves. Using pages from old football magazines, you will cut, rearrange, and compose your own collection.

Since 2019, Maurice began spending hours leafing through football magazines from the 1980s and 1990s. What began as a personal fascination gradually developed into an ongoing artistic practice. Using these magazines as material, he has created artist books of Maradona and a book of footballers in their role as fathers.
