Memorias De Un Cuerpo Que Arde is a powerful portrait of a woman in which all kinds of aspects of being a woman are discussed. Three women in their seventies talk about the development of their sexual and sentimental lives, while one actress represents them on screen at every stage of their lives. Growing up in a repressive era in Costa Rica, in which sexuality was a taboo subject, 68-year-old Ana, 69-year-old Patricia and 71-year-old Mayela developed their understanding of what it means to be a woman, based on unspoken rules and expectations. Looking back on their lives, the three women only now dare to talk about it openly.
