Oscar winner Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) gives a fantastic lead role in Small Things Like These. During the Berlin Film Festival, this film by Flemish director Tim Mielants (Peaky Blinders, Wil) received rave reviews from the international press.

Based on Claire Keegan’s best-selling novel of the same name, Small Things Like These is set in Ireland during the 1980s. The small port town where coal merchant Bill Furlong (Cillian Murphy) lives is controlled by the Catholic Church. While working hard to support his family, the man uncovers disturbing secrets at a house of correction run by Catholic Magdalen Sisters led by Sister Mary (Emily Watson). Here, ‘fallen’ women and girls are exploited and abused in the laundries. The revelations also force Furlong to confront his own past and break his silence.
