event
On Monday April 20, studium resort will focus on the hobby of birding. During the programme Birding, the work of artist Annelein Pompe takes center stage.
The evening opens with a screening of her film ‘The Shadow Workers’, in which a pigeon, acting as narrator, guides you through a dreamlike world between fiction and documentary.
This is followed by a conversation between host Ellis Kat and Pompe about her fascination with birds as a reflection of humanity, her working process in which chance plays a major role and how she creates stories that exist between reality and imagination.
We will close with an invitation to draw birds together. Inspired by Pompe’s characteristic bird portraits, we reflect through drawing on the question: “what does a bird actually look like?”

about
Annelein Pompe (1988) is a painter and filmmaker who blurs the boundaries between documentary and fiction by weaving together autobiography, stories from her surroundings, and daydreams. With humor, curiosity, and a keen sense of composition, she transforms everyday situations into vibrant, contemporary narratives. Birds play a central role in her work, acting as carriers of character and mirrors of humanity, both in her portraits and in her film The Shadow Workers, where a dove serves as narrator, opening a dreamlike world.
