This special Christmas program centers around the Gloria in excelsis Deo, the radiant hymn sung by the shepherds as the angels brought them the message of Christ’s birth.

Vivaldi’s beloved Gloria RV 589 fills the hall with its vibrant and joyful character. From Bach’s monumental Mass in B minor, the Kyrie and Gloria will be performed — a masterpiece often considered the pinnacle of his vocal legacy, rich with majestic choral writing and expressive solo movements.

Poulenc’s Quatre motets pour le temps de Noël offer four contrasting visions of the Christmas story, from the quiet, mystical O magnum mysterium to the exuberant Hodie Christus natus est, concluding once more with the shining Gloria in excelsis Deo.
