The Netherlands is home to more than 2,400 species of butterflies, the vast majority of which are moths. The difference between day and night butterflies seems simple: day butterflies fly during the day, and moths fly at night. But that’s not entirely true — some moths are active during the day as well, such as the hummingbird hawk-moth.
Come Spot Moths
The world of moths remains hidden to many people. Discover these beautiful insects during this evening excursion. You might even see a copper underwing or a small gold spot!
Jan Jaap Boehlé (garden manager at Domies Toen) will begin with a short slideshow presentation about moths. Afterwards, we’ll observe the moths in real life, as they are attracted to a white sheet using special lights.
