Looking Beyond the Disability: The World of People with Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities and Their Families

In this episode of the Public Academy of Social Sciences, we turn our attention to a world that often remains out of sight: that of people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD) and their families. What does it mean to live with intensive care every single day? What does daily life look like for parents, siblings, and other loved ones? And how can research be conducted in a respectful and meaningful way?

Researchers Annette van der Putten and Jorien Luijkx take us into their research on the experiences of people with PIMD and their families, and show the role that care professionals play in this context.
