Every day you can enjoy local talent from the neighborhood, with a mix of music, dance, theater, and poetry from regional performing artists. "Van Eigen Bodem" is in collaboration with VRIJDAG in the Buurt, POPgroningen, Open Studio, and KultuurLoket.

August 22, 17:00 Van Eigen Bodem | VidB | Groningen Vocal Exploration Choir / Neighborhood Choir Oosterparkwijk
 Since 2017, musicologist Chris Tonelli has organized bi-monthly gatherings for vocal improvisation and exploration in Groningen. The Groningen Vocal Exploration Choir is the performance branch of these gatherings. The choir alternates between free, structured, and conducted choir improvisations with fully composed works. At Noorderzon, they share their improvised vocal soundscapes and invite the audience to join in!

The neighborhood choir of the Oosterparkwijk is an enthusiastic choir of local residents. The choir first performed during "De Wijk De Wereld" in 2022. Under the inspiring leadership of Hannelore Duynstee, they regularly perform in the neighborhood. Their repertoire is very diverse and includes songs in various languages, including Swedish, French, English, and Groningen dialect. No language is too crazy for them. From "Hallelujah" to "Mien Toentje" by Ede Staal, they sing it all with equal passion.

Why is there still poverty in the Netherlands? Welcome to Giselle’s Mirror! The entertaining pop-up TV show, with serious themes wrapped in a light-hearted package. Here we call a spade a spade. With playful actions, tips, and beautiful interviews, we fight against poverty! Confrontational, musical, with laughter and tears. A performance about poverty and the desire to be seen.

Willemijn van de Walle 
Willemijn van de Walle is a writer and theater maker. She reflects on the world through current and personal spoken word. Her performance is characterized by crystal-clear delivery and shameless wordplay. As the neighborhood poet of De Hoogte/Korrewegwijk, she writes about the neighborhood, teaches, and organizes various open mics, including "Dichter in de Kas" with the neighborhood work company "Het GroenHuis." 

Hanan van Rooij 
Hannan is 23 years old, a student of religion and ethics, a spoken word artist/wordsmith, and a nurse. She recently started as a neighborhood poet in Vinkhuizen. With raw, honest, and vivid work, she hopes to shed new light on themes such as care, big questions, heartbreak, and other everyday things. 

Ronald IJpma 
Ronald IJpma a.k.a JustRon (1985) has been writing and philosophizing from a young age. Due to his creative nature and explosive energy, he often felt unheard. As a stuttering ADHD'er, he found it difficult to bring his linguistic talents to the ear at a young age. But this did not stop him. He is now heard as the neighborhood poet of Lewenborg. Rhythmic, poetic, and on point, he knows how to express his often deep and touching texts.

The group of craftsmen from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream perform the tragic farce Pyramus & Thisby with as much passion as they can muster. It’s so funny it’ll make you cry.

August 25, 15:00 Van Eigen Bodem | Open Studio | SCN Vinkhuizen - Create and Listen**
With the creative, technical, and social youth center SCN Vinkhuizen, we are at Noorderzon this year with a kind of small house. Nowadays, many young people feel a certain pressure; you have to do a lot or certain things are expected of you. The idea of our small house is that you can let go of that pressure and give space to your creativity. The small house also symbolizes making something tangible together with others.
 

Musical talent also has a place at SCN Vinkhuizen. Our volunteer Gijs Wolthers, also known as Turtlism, takes the stage. He has been developing his own style in DJing and scratching since he was thirteen. Come check us out. From making music to painting and gaming: you can go in all directions, and access is always free!

We are STU33, a group of young people from the Lewenborg neighborhood who meet weekly to rap. Our creative studio is open to everyone for free, and you are more than welcome. Under the professional guidance of Stijn Swarts, Arne Hofstede, and Hessel Stoer, we have the opportunity to develop our talents and create our own tracks. At Noorderzon, we will present some of these tracks. Come listen and experience the creativity and energy of STU33!

StudioT, part of Open Studio, is a dynamic and musical walk-in studio in Paddepoel. Intended for young people, and with two fully equipped music studios, we focus mainly on hip-hop. StudioT emphasizes stimulating young musical talent. Here, young people can discover and develop their passion for music under the professional guidance of four enthusiastic musicians. During StudioT’s performance at Noorderzon, young artists from Groningen, all between 12 and 18 years old, will perform their own written tracks live. Would you also like to make music? August 30, 17:00 Van Eigen Bodem | VidB | Choir Nagham and Neighborhood Choir Vinkhuizen 
Choir Nagham emerged from the weekly music workshops that Karam Shebat (cultural coach for newcomers and music and singing teacher) organizes for residents of asylum seekers' centers in Groningen. A beautiful vocal community has now formed with 25 choir members. With their performances, the choir singers create an atmosphere of unity and warmth and a beautiful celebration of diversity.

The Neighborhood Choir Vinkhuizen aims to be a place where all singing Vinkhuizen can feel at home. Currently, the choir sings songs originating from the cultures of Groningen, Suriname, the Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, and England. After the summer, the neighborhood choir, led by Fenny Hoekstra, will work on a Ukrainian, Polish, and Syrian song. The choir members find it very special to gain insight into another country by singing songs from different cultures. They are, in fact, traveling around the world by singing, just on Friday afternoons in their own neighborhood.

We are a trio of Creationists (father Igor and 2 sons - Boris(11) & Tristan(16)). We play mixed music of jazz and pop/rock, which we have adapted and integrated into our own trio setup: (Piano/bass, Guitar & Drums). We have successfully performed and promoted music in the Groningen area, mainly at festivals and cultural events.
