Framed Filmconcert: Behind the Telescopes
Forum Groningen
Nieuwe Markt 1, 9712 KN GroningenJoin us on this multimedia expedition to Mars, powered by a unique blend of animation and live harp music. Animator Aimée de Jongh and harpist Lavinia Meijer join forces for this intriguing performance.
Behind the telescopes is a musical voyage of discovery towards a better life. Reports in the news about refugees gave Lavinia Meijer the idea. Meijer: "At the same time, there was news about the discovery of life on the planet Mars. I brought those two topics together in my story. The main character is a young girl growing up in a world full of negativity. She looks at space through a telescope and wants to go to Mars to find a better life there.
Lavinia Meijer and Aimée de Jongh met at DWDD. Meijer: "I saw Aimée's work and immediately loved her style. She told me she often listened to music by me when making her animations. I immediately asked her to make this performance with me. We worked on it for a year, devising scenes, adding music, making precise timings. The result is a seventy-minute film. It was a very creative process. I then worked with Arthur Antoine to find the music to go with it: by Philip Glass and Ólafur Arnalds, but also pieces of my own."
