In the near future, the Spanish government plans to replace judges with artificial intelligence software, promising to automate and depoliticize the judicial system. Carmen Costa, a prominent judge, is invited to evaluate this new procedure.

But when Alicia Kóvack, the creator of the THENTE 1 software, is found dead, Carmen realizes her life is in danger and that she must confront the powerful interests operating in the highest circles of the state. Galician director Simón Casal takes the debate on the limits of artificial intelligence a step further in a gripping thriller about political conspiracy.

The near-future setting adds a sense of urgency; the discussions around AI feel eerily close to our present reality, and the overburdened judicial system is all too familiar. Actress Verónica Echegui, who plays Carmen Costa, stands at the heart of the conflict: she struggles with her loyalty to the company’s late director, as well as her belief in a justice system that honors human dignity. Carmen’s inner turmoil drives the film, giving a major technological issue a deeply personal face.
