It’s a dream for many amateur musicians: sharing the stage with a professional symphony orchestra. During NNO Play-in, that dream becomes a reality for several amateur musicians from Friesland, Drenthe, and Groningen. Together with the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, they will tackle Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8.

Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 is music that feels like a long, expansive breath through a fresh, open landscape. You can almost hear nature awakening: warm timbres, sunny melodies, and moments that make you smile without quite knowing why. It’s music that doesn’t complicate things, but transports you to a stream of energy and optimism. For both the musicians and the audience, it becomes a vibrant experience, as if stepping into a story unfolding before your eyes.

During Play-in, selected amateur musicians will perform with the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andreas Ashikkis. The musicians come from amateur orchestras, ensembles or are musicians who have always wanted to play in a large orchestra.
