Arrival of Sinterklaas in Groningen 2025

It’s that time of year again! On Saturday, November 15th, 2025, Sinterklaas will arrive in the Netherlands — and of course, he’ll be making a festive stop in the city of Groningen. The beloved Saint and his cheerful helpers will sail into the city before continuing their journey through the streets. Want to see him in person? Here’s when and where to catch the parade!

When and where does Sinterklaas arrive?

On Saturday, November 15th, 2025, Sinterklaas will arrive by steamboat in Groningen. Between 12:45 and 13:15, the boat will travel via the Herman Collenius Bridge, Bocht van Ameland, and the Hoge and Lage der A to the Zuiderhaven at K.G.R.V. De Hunze. There, he will step ashore to begin his grand parade through the city.

From 14:15 to 15:00, the festive procession will continue through Groningen’s city center, passing landmarks like the Praediniussingel, Emmaplein, Westerhaven, and Gedempte Zuiderdiep, ending at the Grote Markt. Around 15:15, Sinterklaas will be warmly welcomed by the acting mayor and the children’s mayor in a joyful celebration.
