Terug naar het Begin is an annual cultural festival set in the Eemsdelta region of Groningen, typically taking place on the last weekend of May. The 2025 edition is scheduled for May 23rd to 25th. What makes this festival special is its use of historic churches, perched on ancient mounds called “wierden,” as unique venues for music, theater, and art.

Visitors are encouraged to explore the scenic countryside by bike, traveling along winding roads and old sea dikes to discover performances in these stunning locations. Along the way, they encounter local artists, welcoming communities, and innovative productions that offer a fresh perspective on the region.
