Southern Rock in the North

On January 30th, VERA and Countrykoorts proudly present the one and only Countrykoorts Honky Tonk Clubnight — an evening of live music, DJs, and Southern hospitality. After two successful editions elsewhere, this unique event now comes to Groningen for the first time.

Countrykoorts is the fastest-growing country music podcast in the Netherlands, hosted by Tom Meijers and Floris van der Woude. Born from a deep love for country music, the podcast dives into the magic and appeal of the genre. Through conversations with musical guests, they explore what makes country so powerful — and why it’s often underrated in the Netherlands. Countrykoorts gives country music the spotlight and recognition it truly deserves.

The club night will feature performances by Sunken Lands, The Black Hills Bandits, and Inge Lamboo.

Sunken Lands
Hailing from Groningen, Sunken Lands blend melancholy and raw energy into a mix of Americana and country. Their sound floats between the groovy outlaw country of Waylon Jennings and the storytelling country rock of Drive-By Truckers. Their name references both the peatlands of Groningen and Drenthe, and The Sunken Lands by Rosanne Cash.
Live, the band has proven their strength alongside acts like Dale Watson, The Long Ryders, and Bob Wayne. In June, they launched their album Burning Desire to a full house at VERA.

The Black Hills Bandits
These six bandits from the swamps of Salland take you on a musical road trip through the American South. Their “Sound of the South” makes you want to get up, grab a cold beer, and simply enjoy. Their music is heavy and raw like an XXL T-bone steak slathered in smoky BBQ sauce — yet sometimes soft like Tennessee whiskey and sweet like strawberry wine.

They sing from a smoky throat full of stories about love, life, and wild tales their mothers shouldn’t hear. Trust us: after a show by these guys, you’ll go to bed grinning, knowing you just witnessed the real deal. So grab a drink, raise your glass, and enjoy — because this Dutch southern rock sensation isn’t just something to hear, it’s something to experience.

Inge Lamboo
Inge Lamboo fuses raw emotion with fearless musicianship. Her journey began with P!NK covers posted online, eventually leading to her powerful debut album Black Heart (2023). Now she surprises again with This Is How The Future Sounds, featuring none other than Pete Townshend (The Who). Her music is honest, bold, and captivating — a sonic story that sounds like the future, told in her own unique voice.
