16 Horsepower
De Oosterpoort
Trompsingel 27, 9724 DA Groningen16 Horsepower was always a band that changed the musical landscape for alternative, roots-based music, with influences from Appalachian folk, bluegrass, gospel, and country. They used traditional instruments like the banjo and hurdy-gurdy, filtering them through a modern, rock-like approach. The band was often associated with terms like “gothic country” and “gothic Americana,” and played an important role in Denver’s alternative scene in the ’90s. The core trio of the band, consisting of David Eugene Edwards, Jean Yves Tola, and Pascal Humbert, left a lasting, gothic influence after each of them went their separate ways about 20 years ago.
Until now! Because the band is returning in this lineup to European stages for the first time since 2005, and fortunately, Groningen won’t be left out!
