Ariel Posen - Guitar Virtuoso and Songwriter

Canadian guitar virtuoso Ariel Posen quickly made a name for himself in the world of guitar with his distinctive, roaring yet melodic playing style. He has become one of the most influential guitarists of his generation. In addition to being a guitarist, Posen is also a singer and songwriter, with three albums to his name. His creative growth is remarkable. In 2019, he wrote only seven songs for his debut album How Long. For his second album, Headway (2021), he had an abundance of material and even left eight tracks unreleased. For his most recent album, Reasons Why, Posen wrote thirty songs and ultimately selected ten. With each new record, he strives to stay true to himself while pushing his musical boundaries.

Posen avoids any strict genre label and describes his music simply as roots — the perfect definition for his work. There’s rock in it, but it’s not rock. There’s blues, but it’s not blues. It’s soulful, but not quite what people would classify as soul or R&B. You can also hear elements of Americana and pop throughout his music.

Growing up in a musical family in Winnipeg, Posen started playing music at a young age and became a respected musician for artists such as Tom Jones and Butch Walker before fully focusing on his solo career.
