With their heavy riffs, compelling hooks, and powerful live reputation, they are setting a new standard worldwide. The core members, Chris Robertson, Ben Wells, and John Fred Young, have formed a close-knit brotherhood since 2001. Steve Jewell Jr. recently joined the band as a permanent member on bass and backing vocals. Steve grew up listening to Black Stone Cherry and previously opened for them with his own band OTIS. His addition feels like a natural extension of the group. The chemistry between them is strong, and you can hear that in the energy of their live performances.
Over the years, Black Stone Cherry has played on stages all over the world. From arenas with 12,000 people to the main stage of Download Festival, where they performed in front of 100,000 people. The band has also played at the Royal Albert Hall.
After a period of personal changes, the band is closer than ever. “A lot of bands would have thrown in the towel, but we came out the other side with the best music we’ve ever made,” says guitarist Ben Wells. Or as singer Chris Robertson sums it up: “This band feels more like family than ever.”
