Cavolo Nero is a psychedelic grooveband from Utrecht, born out of a love for funk, disco and afrobeat. Expect exotic vibes with modern influences and psychedelics, falsetto hooks and epic synth solos. This is the fresh sound with which Cavolo Nero unleashes ‘The Dance’ everywhere! They are not only the ingredient for various Tuscan specialties but also a six-member band. The brand-new project has emerged from a love for Afrobeat and groove-oriented music. Drawing inspiration from artists like Nu Genea, Khruangbin, and Jungle By Night, they play psychedelic grooves combined with indie and disco elements.

Their debut EP was released in 2022 and that same year the band toured The Netherlands with the Popronde. They played at Noorderslag and had a busy summer with festivals such as Down The Rabbit Hole, Zwarte Cross and Into The Great Wide Open and took their first steps across the border. The new EP ‘Nightshade‘ will be released in February 2024 with an accompanying club tour to venues such as Melkweg, Merleyn, Hedon and of course Simplon.
