Japan, 15th century. After being struck by a mysterious curse, young warrior Ashitaka sets out to find a way to rid himself of it. His journey takes him to a magical forest where a battle rages. Previously protected by giant creatures, the forests are now ruled by humans, who are driving out the original inhabitants. On one side is Lady Eboshi, who is accused of destroying the forests through her drive for progress. On the other side is San, or Princess Mononoke, a wild girl raised by wolves, who fiercely defends nature and hates mankind.
