Oosterhamrikkade 2 Z, 9714 BA GroningenCruel Sister is Dublin-based songwriter and producer Faith Nico, who produced her first EP from her bedroom on Ableton. Described by Nialler9 as “bedroom shoegaze”, the sound takes influences from Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, and PJ Harvey, and ranges from dreamy indie rock soaked in reverb, to the screeching distorted guitars and screaming vocals on second EP Turgid. Her candid lyrics talk about topics such as the struggle of being known, the joys of being loved, coping with the existential, and the pain of girlhood.
