Dutch Classical Talent: Ana-Carmen Balestra
De Oosterpoort
Trompsingel 27, 9724 DA GroningenDutch-Argentine soprano Ana-Carmen Balesta is one of the new vocal super talents. With her Argentinean roots as her inspiration, she takes you on a musical journey through life. In her program, building on her debut at London’s famed Wigmore Hall in 2024, Ana-Carmen tells the story of life itself: from the purity of childhood and the fervor of love to the pain of loss and the beauty of everyday happiness.
Accompanied by pianist Charlie-Bo Meijering, cellist Hadewych van Gent, bandoneonist Simone van der Weerden and percussionist Agostinho Sequeira, Ana-Carmen fuses South American sounds with classical and contemporary music. You will hear works by Francis Poulenc, Astor Piazzolla, Mercedes Sosa and Kaija Saariaho, among others.
The result is a compelling musical theater performance, a celebration of life in all its diversity.
Dutch Classical Talent

Laureates include Tania Kross, Lavinia Meijer, Nora Fischer, the Van Baerle Trio and the Berlage Saxophone Quartet, just to name a few resounding names. Talent alone is not enough to reach the finals; participants must bring distinctive and thought-provoking programs, vision and a bit of guts. The finals will take place on Sunday, May 31 in TivoliVredenburg (Utrecht).
