Exhibition Kunstruimte De Smederij

Kunstruimte De Smederij presents from October 5th a new exhibition by Thijs Damsma, officially opened by Hans Nijland. The show features 31 watercolor portraits of renowned figures from art, culture, sports, and politics – true icons that matter.

Over the past four years, Damsma created no less than 366 portraits, each connected to a specific date. Together with his brother Dick Damsma, this project was published in a book and calendar, combining portraits with their accompanying stories.

This traveling exhibition has been presented across the Netherlands, with monthly showcases in various provinces. In October, it’s De Smederij’s turn, with portraits including Che Guevara, Diego Maradona and Marianne Timmer. The opening by Hans Nijland will take place on October 5 at 2:00 PM. Afterwards, the exhibition can be visited from Thursday to Sunday, between 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM.
