Flemish singer-songwriter Jasper Steverlinck is known for his beautiful melancholic pop and folk with profound, introspective lyrics. He rose to fame in the 1990s as lead singer of successful rock band Arid, after which he embarked on a solo career and released several albums.

The Healing
Jasper Steverlinck is currently working on a new album, titled The Healing. The first single, called Nashville Tears, can already be heard. With a nod to the birthplace of country music, Steverlinck embraces themes of heartbreak and nostalgia. With his talented pianist Valentijn Elsen, Steverlinck has already performed hundreds of sold-out concerts as part of his previous album Night Prayer. With the new album forthcoming and a wealth of new songs, Jasper Steverlinck is coming to the Binnenzaal with Valentijn Elsen on 12 June!

Nashville Tears is one of those songs that came to me automatically. It flowed out in one motion, as if the song had written itself. The song is about a very lonely moment. The moment when you realise that your dream has passed you by, you have been left behind and all the others have moved on with their lives. It also refers to Nashville as the birthplace of country music, those songs often deal with themes of loneliness, heartbreak, nostalgia, … Nashville Tears feels like it’s always been there. When I sing it with a Roy Orbison accent, it even seems to come from his repertoire. Maybe Roy whispered it to me….
