The Balconettes

Nieuwe Markt 1, 9712KN Groningen GroningenAs a heatwave sweeps across a Marseille neighbourhood, three housemates happily meddle in their neighbours’ lives from their balcony. Until a late-night drink turns into a bloody affair…
A scorching summer evening in Marseille. Three young women on a balcony. A handsome neighbor. The Balconettes starts out sunny, but quickly takes a bloody turn. This pitch-black comedy with a feminist message (written by Noémie Merlant and Céline Sciamma, both known for Portrait de la Jeune Fille and Feu) is a pleasantly abrasive mix of comedy, drama, horror and a clever dose of satire.
The Balconettes premiered at the Midnight Screenings at the Cannes Film Festival and was shown in the Bonkers! Competition at the Leiden International Film Festival.
