In the exhibition display DISplay, visible 24/7 from St. Walburgstraat
In 2021, Jurjen Galema developed his long-running concept The Seven Deadly Sins within the Young Grunn Artist III program. His concept is inspired by the 14th-century book La Divina Commedia (The Divine Comedy) by the Italian writer Dante Alighieri. Since then, Jurjen has transformed five of the seven sins into impressive soft sculptures.

The latest in the series is the Gluttonous Mountain, commissioned by Into Nature for the VAM mountain. A striking, colorful textile artwork of a sleeping three-headed dog, inspired by Cerberus, a creature from Greek mythology, based on the sin of gluttony. Unlike Dante’s depiction of Cerberus as a bloodthirsty being preventing the gluttonous from escaping the third circle of hell, Jurjen has transformed this creature into a large, soft sculpture that materializes its presence in our earthly realm.
